Zulu and Friends, Portsoy
The Portsoy Skiff Boat Festival is an annual celebration that brings together maritime enthusiasts, locals, and visitors in the charming coastal town of Portsoy, Scotland. This vibrant festival pays homage to the region's rich maritime heritage and the traditional fishing boats known as "skiffs." Attendees are treated to a lively atmosphere filled with boat races, boat-building workshops, music performances, and a variety of delicious local cuisine. The festival serves as a platform to showcase the craftsmanship of skilled boat builders who construct and restore these beautiful wooden skiffs. With its picturesque harbour as a backdrop, the Portsoy Boat Festival offers a unique opportunity for people to engage in maritime traditions, learn about boat building, and revel in the captivating beauty of Scotland's coastal culture.
Between races at the Portsoy Boat Festival and Regatta the skiffs are tied up to let their crew rest in the shelter of the harbour before their next event in the open waters. This is a fantastic weekend of boating, craft, food and music, and is thoroughly recommended to anyone visiting the area at the beginning of July like I did.
